Artist disputes council veto of artwork (Te Karere)

A decision made by Rotorua District Council not to showcase an artist’s work depicting genitalia at their premiere exhibition due to open next month has drawn criticism.

Te Arawa artist Chanz Mikaere is renowned for her provocative work, but the council says her submissions do not fit in with the exhibition theme.
